Legendary Texas oil man T. Boone Pickens is now trying to push his clean energy plan (and his investments in said operations) into the national spotlight and hopefully into America’s energy plan - if we ever get a President and a Congress to put one together. Considering my disdain for government and the track record of Washington, I’m not so sure we should ask for anything in fear we might get it.
In order to do this, billionaire Pickens is launching a media blitz.
As the owner of what will be the world’s largest wind farm, Pickens wants wind to replace natural gas power plants and natural gas to power our automobiles. He says this will wean us of foreign oil.
This is all easier said than done, though. Wind is not only intermittent, but also not exactly where the power is used. New power transmission infrastructure would have to be build and other obstacles overcome.
But T. Boone Pickens has a way of telling a story that just might catch a few peoples fancy and their support. I certainly wouldn’t want to bet against him, but even if I could bet with him - I think I’d hesitate just a bit.
