New FTC threats, I mean guidelines, of 2009 ask bloggers like myself to disclose any information about compensation or relationships with vendors or merchants who might be featured or mentioned on these pages.
I thought I was pretty clear before, but since I don’t want my door broken down at 3am, a black hood tied over my head and be drug off to Gitmo for water boarding, I am expounding even more.

Let’s think about that a second. What if I recommend you subscribe to an investment newsletter. If that newsletter is great and you make money, would you care about a potential conflict of interest because I received a complimentary subscription?
On the other hand, if I recommended you subscribe to an investment newsletter that was no good, you could not make money using their advice or even lost money, would you care that I received a complimentary subscription to the same lousy newsletter that lost you money? I think not.
