No such thing as a level playing field as long as governments insist of stealing from one group of people and giving to another!

Certainly I agree about not wanting socialized losses and privatized gains.

But in Europe, the people of France and Germany have just told their leaders that they don't want their banks to fail!

But they also don't want to bail out the PIIGS.

What they don't realize is that they can't have one without the other. (The banks have loaned the money to the PIIGS)

Good paying jobs for trained, but basically manual labor, are gone for good in the U.S. People who received those deals in the past, high wages, great retirement, didn't comply with the requirements of the deal. That kind of pay/incentive package only works if the retirees die on time, preferably in their late 60'. Over the past few decades, though, people have been living longer (don't get me wrong, this is good).

You can't work 30 years for John Deere in the foundry at wages equal to an associate CPA or attorney (but with better medical), then retire at 80% pay and live for another 35 years (with great medical). The math just doesn't work.

thanks for the comment.

that's one way of looking at OWS supporters - characterizing them as lazy parasites that want to live on government welfare their whole life. Another way is to see what most of them they really want - the same opportunities other generations in the US have had - plenty of good paying jobs and freedom from the heavy weight of massive debt from decades of the prior generations excesses. Oh yea, and a system that doesn't socialize losses and privatize gains. Simply put, they want a fair playing field like we have had in the past - nothing more.
